Presentations A - Short Presentations by Individual Students (between 1/19 and 2/11)

Present your assigned topic in only 5 minutes each
Prepare a 1/2 page handout (Prof. Just will photocopy)
Remember to include the topic's relevance to Revelation

Presentations B - Class Discussions Led by Pairs of Students (between 3/16 and 3/30)

To prepare, carefully read your chosen text and the footnotes in the HCSB.
Read also the appropriate section in our course textbook (Fiorenza's Revelation).
Each of you should also use a different one of the following major commentaries On Reserve at the LMU Library:

In class, give a 5-minute overview, then lead the class in 15 minutes of discussion on your text.
Focus not only on the details of the text, but also on the author's overall message and its modern-day relevance.
Prepare a handout with your discussion questions, and any other visual aides to make your presentation more interesting.

Presentations C - Research Projects by Groups of Three Students (between 4/13 and 4/29)

Initial Preparation by your Research Group:

check with Prof. Just for approval of your topic and for help in focusing your research
check the tentative schedule below and see Prof. Just about any conflicts or requests for changes

Prior Introduction for your fellow Apocalyptic Scholars:

prepare a handout (4-6 pages = 2-3 pieces of paper printed back-to-back) of something written by you or others;
and/or give us something on the internet to look at (tell us where it is and exactly which portions to read).

In-Class Presentation of your group's research:

make it interesting: include some audio and/or visual components (music, pictures, film clips, internet, etc.).
make it clear: provide a handout with brief outlines, main points, source references, reflection questions, etc.
make it participatory: get other students involved if possible, and leave time for questions/discussion at the end.
make it connect: relate your topic explicitly to the Book of Revelation and/or other apocalyptic literature we've read.

Follow-up Report in written and electronic form:

don't just repeat your oral presentation verbatim, but synthesize and summarize what you researched and presented.
write up some lists, outlines, short explanations, etc., rather than one long essay.
submit your report on paper and electronically (disk, e-mail, web-pages etc.) within one week of your presentation .
include an anotated bibliography listing both printed and internet resources pertinent to your topic.
