• On October 11, 1962, the Second Vatican Council was opened by Pope John XXIII, with over 2000 bishops participating.
• On October 11, 1992, Pope John Paul II promulgated the publication of the new Catechism of the Catholic Church.
• On October 11, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI published the Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei, announcing the "Year of Faith" for the following year.
• From October 11, 2012, to Nov. 24, 2013, the Catholic Church celebrated a "Year of Faith," as promoted by Pope Benedict XVI.
